about

Priam are, were and and will be a lo-fi no-wave alt-prog band.

Priam's eponymous concept EP contains four tracks inspired by the ancient Greek myths and legends that surround Priam and his family. The EP combines repeated musical and lyrical themes. Elements of drone, serialism and minimalism are filtered through rock, pop, metal and prog sensibilities. Or it's just rock music.

The band formed in 2007 when Nad and Joe began jamming together and sought out Peter, and latterly Sofia. However it was a few years before they started writing music together properly.

All the members attended Birmingham University from 2007-2010

Sofia hails from Rome (in Italy) and wants to be English. Joe hails from Cheltenham (in England) and wants to be a chemist. Pete hails from Bristol (in England) and wants to be philosopher. Nad hails from Orangeville (in Canada) and wants to be a lawyer.

Around June 2010 Samuel Jones travelled to Birmingham to record the EP. Using only a laptop, one microphone, a duvet and a wardrobe he created a makeshift studio in Peter's bedroom. The EP was then hurriedly recorded in four days before various members had to leave the country.
